ShishwaLab Text to Speech is a free online text to speech and text reader tool. It uses the browser SpeechSynthesis API to read text aloud with selectable voices—no paid text-to-speech API and no ShishwaLab server upload of your text.

Controls cover Text, Voice, Language, Speed, Pitch, Volume, plus Play, Pause, Resume, and Stop. Statuses include Ready, Speaking, Paused, Stopped, and Unsupported.

This page does not offer downloadable audio files. Speech plays through your device speakers using system/browser voices. ShishwaLab does not claim MP3/WAV export unless a real audio export feature exists.

Tips for better results

  • Voice lists come from your browser and operating system. Install additional OS voices if you need more languages.
  • Filter by language, then pick a matching voice. Speed (rate), pitch, and volume apply on the next Play.
  • Long text is read in smaller chunks so Chromium-based browsers are less likely to cut off mid-sentence.
  • Pause holds playback; Resume continues; Stop cancels and resets to the start on the next Play. There is no audio download on this page.

Yes. Read text aloud with Play/Pause/Resume/Stop. No signup and no paid TTS API from ShishwaLab.

Does ShishwaLab upload my text?

No. Your text stays in the browser for SpeechSynthesis. ShishwaLab does not upload it to ShishwaLab servers for TTS.

Can I download the audio?

No. This tool plays speech through your speakers only. It does not generate downloadable MP3 or WAV files.

Which browsers work?

Most modern browsers support SpeechSynthesis (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox). If unavailable, the page shows Unsupported.

How do I change voice or language?

Use the Language filter to narrow installed voices, then pick a Voice. Adjust Speed, Pitch, and Volume before or between Play sessions.

Does it read websites from a URL?

No. Paste the text you want read. We do not add a backend to fetch arbitrary URLs.
