Browser speech API Recognition uses SpeechRecognition / webkitSpeechRecognition in your browser—not a ShishwaLab paid transcription API.

Live + final text Interim results update while you talk; final phrases append to the transcript for Copy or Download TXT.

Controls Start, Pause, Stop, Clear. Pause holds the transcript; Stop ends the session; Clear resets the text.

Accurate privacy Audio is not sent to ShishwaLab servers. Vendor speech services (common in Chromium) may still process audio in the cloud via the browser.

ShishwaLab Speech to Text is a free online speech to text and voice typing tool. It uses the browser Web Speech API / SpeechRecognition where supported—no external paid transcription API and no ShishwaLab server upload of your audio.

You get live interim results plus a final transcript, language options, and controls for Start, Pause, Stop, Clear, Copy, and Download TXT. Statuses cover Ready, Listening, Paused, Stopped, and Unsupported.

Privacy note: ShishwaLab does not receive your microphone audio. Many browsers (especially Chromium) may still send audio to the browser vendor’s speech service to produce text. That behavior is controlled by the browser, not by a ShishwaLab transcription backend.

Tips for better results

Use Chrome, Edge, or Safari for the best SpeechRecognition support; some browsers show Unsupported.
Allow microphone permission for this site. If permission is denied, use browser site settings to re-enable it, then click Start again.
Pick the language that matches how you speak. Change language when not actively Listening for a clean restart.
For long dictation, Pause when you need a break, then Start to resume. Stop when finished, then Copy or Download TXT.

Does ShishwaLab upload my audio?

No. ShishwaLab does not upload your microphone audio to ShishwaLab servers. Recognition runs through the browser Web Speech API.

Is speech recognition private or offline?

Not always. Many browsers send audio to the vendor’s speech service (for example Google in Chromium) to transcribe. ShishwaLab cannot make that path fully local. Check your browser’s speech/privacy docs for details.

Which browsers work?

Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge) and Safari commonly support SpeechRecognition. Firefox and other engines may show Unsupported.

What if my microphone is blocked?

The tool shows a clear permission-denied or capture error. Allow the mic for this site in browser settings, then click Start again.

Can I download the transcript?

Yes. Download TXT after you have final text, or Copy to the clipboard. Clear removes the on-screen transcript.
